Okay, so I'm very behind on blogging, but it's only because I've been talking numbers, and making sense of mathematics e.v.e.r.y.d.a.y.! I wish it would have been as simple to write my blog post, tweet it, email it, and teachers would have understood the stages of numeracy, the importance of number sense, and how to implement number talks. However, we know that giving students information to read doesn't equate understanding. They need to put their hands on it, think about it, see it, talk about it, and chew on the new learning! It's no different with adult learners, and I'm just elated that my colleagues are open to learning and thinking differently! Trust me, some days I would come home and think, "Really, if I have to talk about number sense, number sense routines, and number talks one more time, I'm going to explode." But then every time I'm asked to meet with a grade level of teachers who have questions, or facilitate some professional learning I'm just so passionate about it that I can't stop! And even more exciting is that teachers are now asking questions and hungry to know more about number sense! Yes, I geek out just a little bit!
What if there was a way to work less, and gain more ground with your students? What if there was a way to improve student math achievement in 5 minutes of intentional talk a day? What if your students stopped counting on their fingers? What if your students were fluent in their basic facts so they could solve more complex problems? What if you only had to ask the questions, and didn't have to know all the answers?
These are the questions I ask when I hear the exhaustion and frustration in teachers' voices and then I share these wonderful resources!

We are just beginning folks! Thanks for joining me on this journey of mathematics!
